Hip-hoppin' no stoppin', the Black Eyed Peas are loud, hyperactive, funky and in your face.
With their blend of hip hop/pop/funk, the LA-based foursome (will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie) have dominated the charts these past six years with a long list of sing-a-long sassy singles that make you want dance your blinged-up pants off.
From their breakthrough album Elephunk (2003) came Where Is The Love the best selling single of that year. This was followed by a host of chart-topping gems including Shut Up, Let's Get It Started, My Humps (a rather dubious ditty relating to Fergie's lady lumps), Pump It and the more recent Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feeling and Meet Me Halfway.
These songs are so hot that they should carry a health warning. So hot, in fact, that Fergie once actually peed her pants live on stage to cool down. We kid you not.
Pea-ing aside, what makes this gang so special is that they've rejected the predictable gangsta styling of other West Coast rappers (think N.W.A., Ice-T, 2Pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg and, ahem, MC Hammer) and have a totally fresh approach encompassing world peace and social consciousness. Basically, they are deep, OK?
So full respect to the crew we salute you!
