With their last album going platinum, MOBO award-winning N-Dubz are back with new album Against All Odds and hoping to do even better. As they prepare to release its lead single I Need You, Dappy and Tulisa tell us about working with Mr Hudson and plans for world domination...
What can fans expect from the new album, Against All Odds?
Dappy: Tracks 1-14 are on a completely different level to the Uncle B album we released. That one done half a million. This one we're looking to take it to a crazier extent. It consists of up-tempo, feel-good music and you can see how N-Dubz works together vocally. The majority of them are all singles.
Tulisa: Pretty much 80% of the album is clubby tunes. We wanted to create a clubby vibe with this album, Friday night, 'let's put on the N-Dubz album, we're going out,' that kind of vibe. But there are a lot more serious songs on the album too.
Do you have a favourite track on the album?
Tulisa: Playing With Fire with Mr Hudson. Mr Hudson is a proper Englishman. He's very, 'Darling, how are you?' Very smooth, a true gentleman. He's a funny guy, he's wicked. Playing With Fire is going to be our next single.
What kind of artists inspired you when making this album?
D: Phil Collins, The Police, Quincy Jones for production back in the day, rap music.
T: I love good writers. They intrigue me. I love The Script because the guy has an amazing tone, but also his writing skills are great. People like Kate Nash because of the way she plays with her words what a clever, quirky, very on-the-ball writer. And The Prodigy.
D: All these acts are very unique and that's how N-Dubz try to be as much as possible. One girl, two boys, no-one's done, were doing it. Thats how we feel.
