Lily Allen

It’s easy to knock the delectable Miss Lily. If she’s not falling out of designer tops and airing her nips at the flash of a camera, she’s shouting her mouth off about some controversial issue or other. Despite all that, she does write remarkably catchy and cutesy pop songs - and this is why we love her.

The Mockney missus used her MySpace page to demo tracks and almost overnight became one of the most successful singer-songwriters of 2006. Not only did her first ever single, Smile, go straight to number one, her debut album Alright, Still was nominated for Best British Album at the BRITS and went on to be nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award. Sheesh!

And let’s not stop there. Lily also managed to launch her own clothing range, host a TV chat show and single-handedly achieve world peace (oh, wait a second...).

Her last album It’s Not Me, It’s You, continues to see the pop princess at the top of her game, attacking lazy lovers (Not Fair), the BNP and George Bush (F*** You) and women who sell themselves short (22).

Credited, along with Amy Winehouse, with starting a process that led to the media-proclaimed ‘year of the women’ in 2009, the feisty lass continues to grab column inches and fans with her no-holds barred approach to life. Good on you, girl.
