Apparently, way back in 2007, Calvin Harris invented Disco for no pounds in his bedroom.
Yikes, we hear you cry, that guy is good. And sure, the Calster certainly has a way of whipping up plinky-plonky electro-synth jerkfests that defy non-dancing.If you’ve been out clubbing in the last, say, oh ever you would have caught Calvin’s classic cartoon-like tracks, some even delivered in his own especially sarcastic super-drawl.
If 2007’s Acceptable In The 80s was retro-fabulous, The Girls was sexy-sexist and Colours was, erm, colourful, while Ready For The Weekend is more anthemic glam dance – the vid features bubblegum blondes with pink lip gloss oozing sauciness, if you please.
Oh, and before we forget, he does occasionally dabble in a spot of producing. Yes (sigh), he’s also quite good at that. His straight to number 1 team-up with Dizzee Rascal, Dance Wiv Me, was huge. Diminutive Diva Kylie Minogue loves him and allowed him to co-write and produce two songs on X; In My Arms and Heart Beat Rock. He is also said to have actually turned down Lady Gaga.
Before doing all this, we have discovered that the Scottish scamp stacked shelves in Marks and Spencer - so at least Gaga can feel a little bit better about something.
