There's rarely such a thing as a 'safe bet' in the music world but, if there ever was one, then Bruno Mars is surely it. Before his massive debut album was released, he already achieved huge chart success co-writing tracks for everyone from Flo Rida to Sugababes and providing guest vocals on hits by B.o.B and Travie McCoy.
The 23-year-old stepped out on his own with his debut single Just The Way You Are in September 2010. The track saw the singer, born Peter Hernandez, pay tribute to the special lady in his life, crooning romantic lyrics like "Her eyes make the stars look like they're not shining." Wow - we wish he was our boyfriend!
The 4Music.com team caught Mars' debut London gig at the Notting Hill Arts Club and were completely blown away by his effortlessly cool stage presence. His short set boasted solo versions of Billionaire and Nothin' On You, The Other Side, a stand-out track from his new EP It's Better You Don't Understand, plus a beautiful rendition of his lead single, which began with him performing alone at the keyboard.
Bruno Mars' love for rock n' roll is always present in his live performances - he covers a range of artists, from Michael Jackson to Jimi Hendrix.
