Love her or loathe her, there’s no-one quite like Lady Gaga.
Attention-grabbing Gaga started out behind the scenes of the music business, writing tracks for artists including Akon, the Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears. But this girl was never going to stay out of the limelight for long and made a break for centre stage in 2008 with scene-stealing debut album The Fame.
Instant electro-pop hit Just Dance summed up the Gaga way of doing things: get glammed up, stay out till daybreak and party hard. Oh, and if things get messy along the way, all the better. Love Game, Poker Face and Paparazzi confirmed what you might have already guessed: that Lady Gaga’s a massive show-off and if you don’t like it, it ain’t her problem.
It was of course 'monster' hit Bad Romance that really catapulted her into the pop stratosphere. The Monster Ball Tour set a new standard for pop concerts, and the album Born This Way was one of the most anticipated follow-ups in music.
Famous for her out-there fashion sense as much as her music, Lady Gaga never fails to get noticed but let’s face it, who needs shy and retiring pop stars?
