Chris Brown

Chris' story so far...

Fri 10 Jun 2011

Chris Brown is, without a doubt, one of the most recognisable faces in music today.

Thanks to his soulful vocals and slick dance routines, the 25-year-old from Virginia has earned himself a huge following across the globe, clocking up ten UK Top 10 singles, six hit albums and a string of sell-out tours.

After signing to Jive Records at the tender age of 15, he became a huge star virtually overnight. His debut single topped the US charts, a feat that hadn't been achieved by a male artist for more than a decade. And that was just the beginning.

His self-titled debut album went on to produce four further hits Stateside and sold an impressive three million copies worldwide. He also began to establish a name for himself on these shores too, with Run It, Yo (Excuse Me Miss) and Gimme That all denting the UK Top 40.

The follow-up, Exclusive, proved to be an even bigger success when it hit the shops in late 2007, producing the inescapable hits With You and Forever, a song which, believe it or not, was originally written as a chewing gum advert. We kid you not.

With the music biz well and truly conquered, Chris also tried his hand at acting, with his first major role coming in the predictable, yet thoroughly enjoyable This Christmas.

While problems in his personal life threatened to derail his blossoming career altogether, 2011 saw him return in a big way with the album F.A.M.E.

Boasting collaborations with the likes of dance producer Benny Benassi, Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber and rappers Chipmunk, Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, the album became an instant smash, propelling him back into the Top 10.

In 2012, Chris was back with F.A.M.E.'s follow-up album, Fortune, which did exactly as it did in the title for him, as it topped the charts around the world and gave Chris his first UK No 1 album. Fortune produced two major hit singles, Turn Up The Music and Don't Wake Me Up.

2013 and 2014 have been a troubled time for Chris. With stints in prison and rehab, and an endless supply of controversy, the singer has been away from the studio for much of the time.

However, he's still producing music and began releasing singles from his sixth studio album, X, in the spring of 2013. He scored two Top 10 hits in the UK from the album, Loyal (ft. Lil Wayne and French Montana/Tyga/ Too Short) and New Flame (ft. Usher and Rick Ross) and the album itself was another worldwide hit for the star.

Now Chris is a free man, let's hope he gets back into the studio doing what he does best: making music. After all, he's one highly talented individual!
