Emeli Sande

This Scottish talent shows no signs of stopping

Scottish talent Emeli Sandé might be pretty new to you, but she’s been knocking out songs and achieving things most new songwriters can only dream of, since she was old enough to open a bank account (and probably a bit before too). Here’s how.

After being crowned finalist in a UK-wide BBC Urban Music competition at the age of 16, Emeli got herself heard on the radio, bagged a manager and began a collaborative song-writing relationship with music producer Naughty Boy. Out of this came writing credits for the likes of Cheryl Cole, Tinie Tempah, Alesha Dixon, Susan Boyle and a MOBO-winning track for Chipmunk - all while she was still busy studying for a degree in medicine (her manager’s very patient, apparently).

But enough of all this behind-the-scenes nonsense!

Super-talented Emeli is finally claiming her own chunk of the pop music spotlight… and after a seriously bold makeover (check out her old look on 2010 Wiley hook-up Never Be Your Woman), reached No.2 in the chart with solo debut Heaven, and sang the screen off in Professor Green collaboration Read All About It

After performances in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic games and her debut album, Our Version Of Events going straight in at the No.1 spot, and becoming the best selling album of 2012, overtaking Adele's 21, it is hardly surprising that the music industry is in awe of Sande.

She recently swept the board at the 2012 MOBO's, winning Best Female, Best Album and Best R&B/Soul, triumphing over the likes of Plan B, Tulisa and her Beneath Your Beautiful co-star Labrinth.

Marriage, a double platinum selling album and a tour that has taken her across the globe, 2012 has been the year of Emeli Sande and it doesn't look like she will be slowing down any time soon as she attempts to crack America and continues to showcase her talent to her adoring fans!
