Ne-Yo isn't just a pretty face - he writes songs, too.

Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Smith in Las Vegas, cites his influences as Sammy Davis Jr and Michael Jackson. He's not only a talented singer, but he's written lyrics for lyrics for Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and many more… phew!

Just to give you an idea, Ne-Yo wrote: Rihanna's top-ten singles Unfaithful, Russian Roulette and her number-one hit Take a Bow and Beyoncé' classic Irreplaceable. Wowzers!

However, it would seem he saves the best for himself, as in 2006 his debut album In My Own Words produced R&B classics So Sick and Sexy Love.

A year after that, he returned with his second album Because Of You which raced up the UK Album Chart and contained hit single Because Of You

A year after that, he returned once again with his album Year Of The Gentleman and and dominated the charts with smash hits Closer and Miss Independent.

Ne-Yo is now on his fifth studio album R.E.D, and it does not disappoint, with superstars Wiz Kalifa and Tim McGraw making an appearance and Let Me Love You bagging the singer his 4th number one in the UK.

His discovery of Conor Maynard meant chart success for the pair with Turn Around smashing into the Top 10 and confirming his title as the king of collaborations!

The singer attempted a move into the film biz featuring in Red Tails and Battle: Los Angeles and a recent stint as guest host on the popular music panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks has proved him to be more than just the hit-making, hat wearing singer we all know and love.

With the titles of singer, songwriter, actor, producer and presenter under his belt, is there nothing this man can't turn his hand to!?
