Pixie Lott

The pint sized singer with a whole lotta talent

Thu 19 May 2011

Not only would it be a shame to waste such a fantastically showbiz name, but it’s unlikely she would have made it as a successful dentist either.

Petite popstrel Pixie is still a relative newbie to the uncharted world of pop and hails from that acclaimed pop capital, erm, Kent. Formerly Victoria, apparently her mum gave her the nickname Pixie because she was a ‘tiny, cute baby’ who looked like a fairy. Aw, bless.

Little Pixie showed signs of success from an early age and attended Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, where she was awarded a scholarship. During her time as a student, she appeared in the West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, and in BBC One's Celebrate the Sound of Music as Louisa von Trapp. Impressive credentials indeed. With her husky, breathy tones, naturally pop came calling and she hasn’t looked back.

Duffy-esque ditty and debut single Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) entered both the iTunes chart and the UK Singles Chart at No.1, with over 50,000 sales. So not a bad start then. Since then, she's done well for herself with more hits and has even launched a clothing line! Who knows what the talented Miss Lott will do next?
