Since bursting onto our TV screens in 2008, Katy Perry has certainly ruffled a few feathers along the way.
The girl-kissing, Christian rock singer-turned global pop megastar has frequently set tongues wagging with her provocative outfits, eye-popping videos and, her high profile divorce from Russell Brand. Luckily, she's also got the music and talent to justify the hype.
Katy recorded her very first album, which was self-titled with her birth name, Katy Hudson, in 2001. She moved to LA the following year, buthad to wait a few years to clinch a record deal, which she did in 2007.
After that, she didn't have to wait much longer for international stardom. She released I Kissed a Girl from her second album, One Of The Boys, and found herself with a worldwide No 1 hit.
Her second album Teenage Dream cemented Katy's status as a pop heavyweight. She equalled Michael Jackson's record of six consecutive No 1 singles from one album with massive hits like Firework and California Gurls. The album's re-release saw the single Part Of Me top the charts in both the UK and the US.
Although Katy's split from husband Russell Brand had the tabloids salivating, she let the music do the talking. Katy came back with a Roar on her third album, Prism, which was chock-full of heartfelt tracks exploring the breakdown of her marriage.
It wasn't all sadness and gloom, however, with the hit record exploring themes of growth, progress, forgiveness and the freedom to love again.
Katy's Prismatic World Tour with its elaborate props and colourful costumes, is not only a promotion for her album, Prism, but a showcase of her hits from throughout her career. Spanning over a year, the tour began in Belfast in May 2014 and ends in Stockhom, Sweden in March 2015. She does get time off for Christmas though!
Katy's not all show though. The singer is prolific in her support for charities and is a ardent supporter of gay rights.
She's also known for her genuine love for her KatyCats, who she keeps in touch with regularly on Twitter. So much so that in January 2014, she became the first person to gain 50 million followers on the site.
In 2014, Katy founded her own record label, Metamorphosis Music and is already actively signing new artists. With her new label, frangrances and numerous sponsorship deals, it's clear that Katy is not going anywhere for a long while!
