14) Tinie Tempah feat. Ellie Goulding - Wonderman
We've always thought that Tinie Tempah had that extra special something, but never realised he was bionic.
Wonderman was the fifth single to be taken from Tinie's 2011 Mercury-nominated debut album, Disc-Overy. It might not have been the best selling single off the album, but the video was certainly one of the most imaginative. Well, it caught our attention anyway.
Tinie takes us back to the 70s with this Six Million Dollar Man (google it) - inspired homage to the cult TV series. Tinie takes on the role of Steve Austin, the former astronaut who is rebuilt after injuring himself in a serious crash. We see Tinie being fitted up with bionic implants under the watchful and professional eye of a bespecled Ellie Goulding. He wakes up as the 'Wonderman' who can run at super speeds, has inhuman strength and has a powerful zoom lens for an eye.
In his new role as a secret agent Tinie is ready to save the world - and he does. Does it look like Tinie is indulging in some kind of age-old school boy fantasy? Yes. But wouldn't you if you had the chance?
Tinie was nominated for a host of MOBO and other awards in 2011, plus he won two BRITs for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Single. This is the second year we've picked a Tinie video for our top 20 of the year. His entry last year was for his No.1 hit Pass Out.
With his Happy Birthday mixtape and second album due for release in 2012, the London-born rapper is showing no signs of slowing down. That's a relief!
