London vs L.A.: Celebs on the move

London and Los Angeles are in some ways more than just oceans apart. One has sandy beaches, highways full of Hummers and SUVs, and Rodeo Drive. The other has fast-living, high fashion and Bond Street. What they both have in common though is celebrities. From film stars to music icons, runway models to sportsmen, London and LA are where they can be found.

With stars living an increasingly jetset lifestyle to match their global fame, it's not surprising that they are now not only just moving house but moving continents. So, just who of Britain's talent is going transatlantic to the Hollywood Hills and which of LA's glitterati may soon be shining in our capital?

It was only a few years ago that Victoria Beckham left her hair extensions and WAG lifestyle behind for the West Coast, but in that time she has become a household name in America and reinvented herself as a fashion designer to be reckoned with. Fellow Spice Girl Mel B has also set up home there and found popularity through Dancing With The Stars and her own reality TV show.

Following in their famous footsteps, along with rumours of romance with dancer Derek Hough, there is speculation that Britain's sweetheart Cheryl Cole is also planning on some LA sunshine. After her very public split from Ashley Cole and the scrutiny of the tabloids, who can blame her? What's more, she may already have a brand new job being lined up for her stateside, sitting next to Simon Cowell as a judge on the new US version of X Factor.

Fear not though. If we lose our favourite Geordie lass to the States, there are still a number of stars from overseas rumoured to be coming our way. Rihanna has strongly expressed her love for London and, with her fashion-forward dress sense and penchant for a party, she'd fit right in over here.

Rihanna wouldn't be alone either. Will.i.am has said he'd consider a move to the UK capital and there is talk that hip-hop power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce are looking at property in the city too. Even David Hasselhoff is abandoning those Baywatch beaches for a life in London, judging Britain's Got Talent no less.

There are, however, some celebrities who won't be borrowing a cup of sugar from us anytime soon. Despite marrying Russell Brand last year, Katy Perry has stated that she has no plans to leave behind her California Gurls. Madonna has seemingly abandoned her tweed and faux-British accent for good for life abroad, and Mischa Barton has denied rumours that she is leaving Orange County for our shores.

Thankfully, there are still British celebs who are more than happy to stick with us. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has said that he cannot imagine leaving London and, athough those Wanted boys want to crack America, they're right at home here. With new music talent breaking out on both sides of the Atlantic, it looks like London and LA will have more than enough celebs in 2011.
