Alexander Skarsgard was impressed with Rihanna's "work ethic" on the set of Battleship
The True Blood actor starred alongside Rihanna in the big screen adaptation of the classic boardgame and he was amazed at how professional she was, considering it was her first movie acting role.
He said: "I was impressed by her work ethic. the days are long on a movie and we had weekends off but she'd go to perform at award shows. It was her first big acting job and she was so enthusiastic."
Alexander also revealed how he was initially unsure of signing up to Battleship but was convinced to take on the role of Stone Hopper by director Pete Berg.
He told the Metro: "The deciding factor for me taking it was meeting the director, Pete Berg. He has a very interesting energy.
"It's a very big movie but my problem with films like that is sometimes you don't care about the characters, it's just about the explosions, which isn't much fun for an actor. Pete's interested in actors and he talked about my character and his relationships, rather than how cool the aliens would look. That was important.
"If you don't care if the characters live or die, it doesn't matter how cool the rest of it looks."
