Youngman talks about his debut album, playing live, dream collaborations and the X Factor
Youngman is one of the UK's most exciting and vibrant young vocal talents. He's due to make a big splash this year, his hotly anticipated single, Who Knows, has just been released and we've got his debut album, Me and My Music, to look forward to.
In an interview with Monkey from Orange, he's asked to sum up his sound, he says "I wouldn't like to say... I try not to pigeon hole or confine my sound as it limits what I do when I'm in the studio. But a loose definition would be edgy beats, fused with a lot of soul, fun and emotion."
Youngman's already made his mark as a standout vocalist in the drum'n'bass and dubstep scenes, as well as playing at a number of summer festivals. He loves playing live as it gives him such a rush. When asked about what makes a live performance so exciting he says: "It has to be the adrenaline. The crowds reaction. The way they erupt when a track drops. It's crazy the amount of people who see us play and leave saying it was 'the best night of their lives'. It's a cult. Emotional."
The singer also talks about his inspirations, who he'd like to collaborate with, gives advice to X Factor hopefuls and where he might be this time next year.
