X Factor's Marcus to launch solo career

Runner-up to release album

Marcus Collins may have lost to Little Mix in the X Factor, but it looks he's going to beat the girlband in releasing an album first.

Marcus has revealed on Twitter this morning that he is releasing an album in March.

"I'm delighted to announce you can now pre order my debut album out 12th March. Thankyou so much for all the support," he wrote. "BEEN WORKING NONE (sic) STOP !!! I HAD TO MAKE SURE IT WAS RIGHT !! I HOPE U GUYS LOVE IT! I DO! X"

It's not only Marcus who is excited about the release. His former mentor and Take That frontman Gary Barlow teased fans of Collins by saying that he has "heard some of @MarcuscollinsUK album today! Get ready! #brilliant"

Music news!

There is no news yet on the musical direction, but Marcus became known throughout the TV show putting a retro spin on his performances, which included Rihanna's Russian Roulette and Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger.

Coming second in the X Factor is not always a bad thing. Just look at Olly Murs, JLS and Rebecca Ferguson, who have all gone on to be more successful than the series' winner.

So, is Marcus about to be the next thing? Will he do better than Little Mix? And are you excited about his album? There's not long to wait...
