Gossip blogger auditions, as Simon bids farewell to Paula and Nicole
Perez Hilton is known for his scathing attacks on those he deems to lack talent and star quality. His catty remarks could see the celebrity blogger move from behind the computer to in front of X Factor hopefuls, if he gets his way.
With Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul being axed as judges from the US show this week, there are now two spots on the judging panel up for grabs.
Perez has put himself forwards with a Youtube video addressed to Simon Cowell, auditioning for the part.
Perez cites his 4.5 million followers on Twitter, his radio shows and his love of music as reasons why he has the X Factor.
Hilton said: "I'm just going to me and I'm so fabulous - in case you couldn't tell - and fun and self-deprecating!""I'm going to keep it real, I'm not going to try to be like anybody else. I'm going to be me and be honest. That's not necessarily being mean or necessarily loud, it's just being the viewer and the expert."
He added: "I was watching X Factor so much this first season and I was shocked at how often the panel and judges' mentors were just whitewashing things and feeding the contestants and the audience a bunch of BS. People can smell baloney a mile away."
"I will do whatever it takes!" he said. "I'm Perez Hilton and I'm your next X Factor judge."
Pulling out all the stops to tug at Cowell's heartstrings, Perez stated that he would give 100% of his salary to education charity GLSEN.
Will it be enough?
