Marcus Collins angers White Stripes fans

His cover version isn't going down too well...

Doing a cover of a classic song is always going to be a risky move so when Marcus Collins revealed he was putting a spin on Seven Nation Army there were a few raised eyebrows in the office.

Though his fans have taken to Twitter to say they love the X Factor runner-up's version, not everyone has been won over. The Liverpudlian has revealed he has getting grief from White Stripes fans for his take on Seven Nation Army.

Speaking to The Sun, Marcus admitted: "I've had a lot of abuse. Plenty. Seriously. But I know I can't please everyone. A lot of people have got opinions on it but they can always listen to the White Stripes version.

Why are they listening to me if they don't like it? Listen to the original if you don't like my singing. It's just the X Factor connection but, you know, why are people kicking off about it now?"

You'd think after weeks of critique from the X Factor judges poor Marcus would have developed a thicker skin, but perhaps a chart position in the Top 10 will soften the blow when the single is out in March?
