Tulisa's dad on the sex tape scandal, her breakup with Fazer and her new boyfriend
Tulisa's father, Plato Contostavlos, has spoken out about his daughter's personal life in a recent interview with with the Sunday Mirror.
The 23-year-old singer's father commented on everything from her X Factor judging succes, to the leak of a sex tape with former boyfriend Justin Edwards.
“What Justin did has really brought the family down and destroyed us in some ways," he said. "Tulisa is strong but it seriously dented her confidence."
"I remember the first time I met Justin. I picked Tulisa up one night from Camden and he was there. They were arguing in the street. I immediately disliked him and every time I met him after that he seemed arrogant and had little respect for me. I think he was just trying to piggyback on the fame of N-Dubz."
Commenting on her dating history, he added: "She has a habit of going out with the wrong type. I have told her I only want to meet guys from now on that she is really interested in. She is a good honest girl and doesn’t need any more stupid boys."
The singer broke up with N-Dubz band mate Fazer earlier in the year, during a trip to Barbados. Speaking about the failed relationship, Plato said: “I think they had probably been friends too long. Fazer is like a son to me, and both Tulisa and I were upset when it ended. But it doesn’t mean they will no longer be friends."
Tulisa recently told The Daily Mirror: "Me and Fazer will always be friends. It's Dappy, Tulisa and Fazer. No matter what goes on, it'll never be broken."
Since the breakup Tulisa has been seeing Skins actor Jack O'Connell, who she met at a birthday party in December.
"I think Tulisa likes the fact that what you see is what you get with Jack,” says Plato.
"Tulisa wants me to take him fishing at some point, which I guess is a good sign. I really hope this one works out for her. She deserves it.”
