Will it do better than flop LP Bionic?
Christina Aguilera has revealed that a brand new album is on the horizon.
Speaking backstage at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Aguilera said: "It's coming, it's coming, it's coming. I'm very, very excited.
"It's quality not quantity. I don't like to just get songs from producers. I like them to come from a personal place. It's going to be great."
Though she gave no clue on the musical direction, Christina described her seventh album as "fun" and "exciting."
Though Christina Aguilera's star profile has risen again since appearing as a judge on The Voice in the US, a lot is riding on the upcoming album's success after the poor reception to her last LP Bionic in 2010.
Despite going to No 1 in the UK, it had the lowest single-week sales seen in the charts in nearly a decade, and suffered the largest weekly fall down the charts for a No 1 album in UK chart history.
Apparently trying to compete with the likes of Lady Gaga, the New York Times said in its review at the time that Bionic '"makes her sound as peer-pressured as a pop singer can be." The Guardian described it as a "teeth-gritting and stupid album". Ouch! Three singles and a hastily axed tour later, the campaign was over.
We can't wait to hear new music from Christina and to see her back on top!
