Beyonce and her all-female band.
Fresh from her headline appearance at Glastonbury, Beyonce made a welcome return to London on Monday night. The chart-topping diva chose the intimate Shepherd's Bush Empire to launch her new album, with competition winners, celebs and journalists all in attendance. Luckily, wellies weren't required for this show though!
The 2,000-strong crowd, which included the likes of Adele, Tinie Tempah, Gwyneth Paltrow and B's hubby Jay-Z, looked on in awe, as the 29-year-old shimmied her way through her hit-packed set.
Flanked by her all-female band, an energetic troupe of dancers and a spectacular light show, Beyonce dazzled from the moment she set foot on the stage. Kicking off with a rousing rendition of Run The World (Girls), the Houston-born singer immediately had the audience in the palm of her hand.
Those expecting a rehashed version of her Glasto set would have been pleasantly surprised, as Knowles offered up a number of songs that she didn't perform at Worthy Farm. Before launching into a cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, she admitted that the song had been cut the day before due to timing reasons. There was also a welcome outing for Dreamgirls classic Listen - which made audience member Alexandra Burke rise to her feet and belt out every word.
Whether it was directing a 'to the left, to the left' sing-a-long during Irreplaceable, asking for requests or getting up close and personal with the fans at the front, we've rarely seen a performer so at ease with her audience, and she made every note and perfectly-timed step look effortless. Adele certainly gave her a run for her money though, treating us to a mean Single Ladies dance from the balcony!
"I wanna thank y'all for celebrating this day with me," she gushed, before the set climaxed with a jaw-dropping performance of Halo. We don't think there was a dry eye in the house by the end. Simply stunning.
