Disregarding that whole naked picture debacle, it seems that things are finally looking up for Chris Brown after being public enemy No.1 for the past couple of years. Earlier this month he occupied no less than two spots in the UK Top 10 (with Yeah 3x and Chipmunk collaboration, Champion), something that would have seemed unthinkable not too long ago.
Boasting an impressive list of co-stars, including Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber and Timbaland, his fourth studio effort F.A.M.E is an album which also feels destined for huge chart success.
Vocally, Brown absolutely smashes it out of the park, with slow jam Up 2 You providing the best showcase of his considerable talents. Collaborations with Benny Benassi and DJ Frank E have resulted in his biggest, boldest productions to date and will sound at home either in the club or blasting out of your TV.
Highlights include Bieber duet Next To You, which is a worldwide smash in waiting, while the SWV/Michael Jackson-sampling She Ain't You brings an R&B classic bang up to date.
It's not without its flaws of course - Look At Me Now sounds like he's duetting with R2-D2 to these ears but, for the most part, F.A.M.E. is a revelation. Now that's what I call a comeback.
F.A.M.E is out now.
