Indie-pop band pleases crowd at iconic London venue

Since supporting The
and Avril Lavigne, up and comers Lawson established a loyal and dedicated
fan base, who were at this London gig. Lawson played the famed Monto Water Rats in Kings Cross, which saw Katy Perry play one of her first UK gigs in 2008.

Though Lawson are probably used to performing for large
crowds at the O2, this was a far more intimate setting, which provided
the perfect accompaniment to their brand of indie-pop.

The band played a selection of
songs during their energetic 45-minute set, kicking off with the infectious track Make it Happen. Though every song was well received by the
screaming crowd, it was Lawson's rendition of Ed Sheeran’s The A Team that really
showed off their vocal abilities. The lead singer of the group, Andy, belted out the song in his velvety
smooth voice.

The group, who all play their own
instruments, were clearly well versed in the art of crowd pleasing and moved seamlessly
between songs with the help of their laddish banter.

What was most adorable about Lawson was their disbelief at just how many of the fans knew the words to their
songs. “We can remember playing to crowds of three people and we can’t believe we're here now,” said Andy as he thanked the screaming crowd.

They ended their set with their upcoming single and crowd favourite, When She Was Mine, which led to a full-on stage invasion from their beloved fans.

This self-made band from
Liverpool, Nottingham, Sheffield and Birmingham seem to have all their bases covered.
With Adam on drums, Ryan on bass, Joel on guitar and Andy on lead, they provide
a potent blend of love song lyrics and indie riffs. Plus, they have the cheeky charm with
all the talent to match. After this gig we must admit, we have a little bit of
a crush on Lawson!
