Hip hop star is looking for "crepe chiffon"
Kanye West is hard at work at the sewing machine, preparing his new line for Paris Fashion Week.According to his agency Karla Otto, West is set to debut an exciting new collection on March 6 at 9.30pm at a secret location.
Earlier this week, Kanye posted on Twitter: "Pardon me... do you have any crepe chiffon?" Since then he has been spotted at a special dinner in London hosted by designer Mark Fast. There have also been rumours that he may design a line for Top Shop, after being seen having lunch with store boss Sir Phillip Green.
The Flashing Lights star will be crossing his fingers that his collection will be received well. Though not the first pop star to make a foray into fashion, his debut at Paris Fashion Week a year ago was savaged by critics.
The Times said: “Kanye West's fashion debut was like being subjected to an hour long MRI scan - but not as much fun.”
Fashion bloggers made barbed comments such as "Good thing Kanye has a day job," and "the only thing more painful than witnessing the dress was watching the model pitch down the runway in shoes so ill-fitting that her spike heels were bending at angles.” Ouch.
Kanye responded with: "This is my first collection. Please be easy. Please give me a chance to grow."
Twelve months on, has the star grown into a fully-fledged designer or will it be one big fashion faux pas?
